When high winds knock down your sunflowers, use them!!

Cut off blooming flowers and put them in a vase.

Cut off flower buds and put them in a vase to open up. Keep them in a sunny spot and change the water every couple days.

Let the leaves decay in the garden bed and enrich the soil. (Chop and drop)

And look how the buds are trying to open - just as the big bloom is fading!

It's hard to stay in a bad mood when sunflowers are around! They provide drama, anticipation, shade, food for humans and wildlife and seeds for the next year.
