I’ve created certified monarch waystations and wildlife habitats, and maintained annual and perennial pollinator and fruit and vegetable gardens. Gallery photos are from my own gardening work except the raised bed ideas/inspirations.
Master Gardener through MSU Extension in 2017. Participated in the International Master Gardener’s Conference in 2019 and the Homesteading America Conference in 2020 and 2023. Completed Gardenary’s Certified Garden Consultant course.
Gardening is in my lineage! Grandma was a Troy, MI master gardener, Grandpa was a prize winning tomato grower and my great grandparents were Ferndale, MI farmers who emigrated from Sweden.
Gardening was a lifeline through all life’s ups and downs. My kids were toddlers when my husband wanted a divorce. I was a single mom for eight years and had food stamps, Medicaid, WIC and daycare assistance and went back to college while working. Remarried and brought two stepsons to add to my three biokids and two dogs added to my cats.
Now I’m a FT worker, empty-nester with kids buying their own homes. I still garden - establishing a homestead using permaculture methods.
