Wait! Stop!

Okay, it's obvious that many people are anxious to start planting since we're having a warm snap up here in Michigan.

But I have to remind you that it's still early March and that if you look ahead to the weather forecast you can see that we're going to have some cold snaps again.

So if you want to go ahead and plant things outside be ready to bring out blankets and heaters and covers to protect them from frost. Or at least be ready to replant them after they die and you feel like a plant killer. Please don't tell me you have a black thumb if you don't listen to people who give you advice about when to plant things and you decide to do your own thing.

Right now don't look at the daytime highs but look at the nighttime lows. If the nighttime lows are consistently under 45 degrees Fahrenheit, then don't plant in the ground yet. You'll have better success if you wait just a little while longer.

EXCEPT for the cool crops! Go ahead and plant those ASAP!
