Passion Pansies

It's time to plant pansies!
Super simple with these tricks!

Quick video I made of the process here: https://youtu.be/EFavvUln8HQ

Notes below!

#pansies - also called violas and johnny jump ups. They come in all sorts of colors and bloom in spring and again in fall.

#earlyspring - they don't mind a little frost or snow.

#bucketstool - tip over a bucket to sit on. Save your knees and back!

#removeroots - nurseries start these plants weeks before they sell them. They often have a full set of roots and roots come out of the package too.

#separateplants - they'll grow nicely in their own holes. If you plant them all together they might crowd each other out.

#givethemfeet - always cut or tear “feet” before planting flowers. New roots grow quickly.

#tuckthemin - hold up their “hair” and move the dirt around the roots.

#pressthemin - firmly press them down so the roots have good contact with the soil.

#drawthemagiccircle - this is like a moat around the plant that will catch water.

#waterin - fill in the circle

#letitrain - I like to plant before rain is coming.

Backstory of this post: My youngest son is getting married Saturday, March 2021. I stood in the greeting card aisle and got teary eyed choosing a card. When I got home, I bawled like a baby - not as much because of the wedding but because he lives out of state and would be leaving for his home on Sunday. My heart ached thinking about not knowing when I would see him m again. I let the tears fall and I heard “it's time to plant something”. I remembered spare pansies and decided to give them a home in the bed where I'll plant greens. What a heart comfort that was. <3
