Seed starting

You can use nearly any container you have on hand like egg cartons, coffee can, yogurt containers, halves of milk jugs. Poke holes in the bottoms for drainage.

Make sure the soil is made for starting seeds and that you wet it before you put them in the containers and right before you add the seeds.

Put the seeds as deep as they are in size. So if it's a tiny seed it doesn't have to go in very far versus if it's a very large seed you'll have to poke it in further and then cover it.

I only add two seeds to each hole. When the seedlings pop up, I cut the weakest one off.

Try to put your little containers on a tray and then add water to the tray every couple days. Rainwater is great to use for these and you can collect the rain water just with some buckets that you leave outside

.If you're starting seeds indoors, you'll want to use a grow light and put it about 1-2 inches away from the soil. You want the temperature of the room to be at least 70 degrees. You can use those clear plastic lids over the tops until you see the little green leaves and then remove the lids and put them under the light.

Each seed packet tells you how long it should take between the time you plant the seed till you see the seedling.
