Garden guide for working people

After working long hours on tough assignments, gardening is probably the last thing on your mind!

Guess what? After meeting with you, I can design and build a garden to fit your schedule and energy…

I can coach you while you grow and be a cheerleader…

You can talk to me about your plants and send me photos…

Until you call me, here's an introduction to gardening. These are the things I know and am familiar with. Things you don't have to know - right now, or ever! But they're here if you want to learn….

1. Gardening can relieve stress relief and improve your mental well-being.

2. Understand Your Space

- Assess available space: balcony, rooftop, backyard.

- Anylyze sunlight: determine optimal plant placement based on sunlight availability. 🌞

3. Plant Biology Is Super Basic

- Plant life cycle: seeds, roots, leaves, growth, flowering, and fruiting. 🍃

-The right soil, water, and nutrients can be important.

4. Use Container Gardening for Limited Spaces

- Select the right containers: size, drainage, and material.

- Choose suitable plants for containers: herbs, vegetables, ornamentals. 🌶

5. Soil and Composting Basics

- Understand soil types and amendments.

- Composting is an advanced skill! Start with bags of composted manure. Ordering online for pickup saves time and energy!

6. Watering and Plant Care

- Learn efficient watering techniques: when and how to water. Don't water on a schedule but do check the soil on a schedule. 💧

- Certain pests and diseases are common and predictable. Planning what to plant and where helps prevent issues. 🐛 🪲

7. Seasonal Gardening

- Planting has schedules! This is good because we are used to dates and deadlines. Understand the best times to plant and harvest. 🕐

- Plant care is also seasonal: pruning, mulching, and preparing for the next season.

8. Integrate Technology

- Learn about smart gardening tools: irrigation systems, soil moisture sensors, and apps. 💧

- Use technology to monitor plant health and automate care routines.

9. Gardening for Food

- There are similar basics to growing vegetables, fruits, and herbs.

- Harvesting, storing, and preserving produce can be learned.

10. Create a Relaxing Garden Space! 😌

- Incorporate elements of design: pathways, seating, and focal points.

- Plant for relaxation: aromatic herbs, flowering shrubs, and calming colors.

11. Community and Networking

- Join local gardening clubs or online forums. Organize or participate in community garden initiatives. MAYBE. If you have any time. Don't if you don't.

-DO learn the easiest and fastest ways to get your questions answered.

12. Continue Learning

- Reflect on your journey and achievements. Even things you think that went badly are learning opportunities!

- Gather resources for further learning: books, workshops, and advanced courses are good starts - unless you let books sit on the shelves! Consider audio books, podcasts and you tube videos for commuting times.
